Starling has a slim face and long, pointed ears. Naturally inquisitive, Starling is the bright, conversational little bird of the seedling family.
Moonling has fuller cheeks and lips and a blunt nose. Her slight shyness sometimes comes off as aloof, but her natural intelligence is tempered with a gentle kindness.
Both girls are 18cm tall, putting them at approximately 1:9 scale. They were originally sculpted with the intention of being a doll for a doll (she is 1:3 scale to a 1:3 scale doll) They have 16 points of articulation; new to this edition are the double joints at the knees and elbows and the swivel joints in the thighs. They are professionally cast in high quality polyurethane resin and strung with elastic.[gallery link="file" ids="530,529,519,520,518,517,516,515,514"]
They use a faceplate system that attaches using magnets.
(In the collage above, Starling is on the left and Moonling is one the right in each picture.)
They fit 4 or 5 mm eyes and a size 3-4 wig. For commercially available clothing, they can wear Bratz and Monster High clothes; the small bust torso is an excellent fit for most Monster High dresses. You may also have success dressing them in clothing intended for Licca, Blythe and other smaller fashion dolls. They can wear Licca and Blythe shoes.
By default, both girls come with a small bust.
What is included?
By default, the dolls are shipped nude and unpainted. Each doll comes with one face plate and the small bust body. They will come with a pair of house-made urethane eyes in the color of your choice.
The other face plate can be purchased for an extra $15. I can't likely provide duplicates of the same faceplate, but if it is something that you want, please note it in the comments and I will see if I can arrange it.
The large bust piece can be purchased for an extra $15. It can only be added on; it can not be substituted for the default. If requested, I can restring the doll with the large bust piece before sending it to you.
Extra eyes can be purchased for $10 per pair. They are made specifically for these dolls and have the width of a 5mm eye but a much smaller iris. Because they are made in house, the color is completely customizable.
Faceups/face painting is available for $15 per faceplate. Faceups are done using Pan Pastels, Liquitex acrylic, and Tamiya gloss. They are sealed with Mr. Super Clear.
The two standard colors are Milk Blue and Creme Brûlée. Milk Blue is a very pale, luminous white-blue that is reminiscent of frosted glass or glacier ice; the color is more obviously blue in certain lights. Creme Brûlée is a warm, golden tan with the faint reddish undertones of caramelized sugar.
I am also tentatively offering an add-on color of Bittersweet Chocolate. Bittersweet chocolate is a deep, cool brown with hints of violet. This color is difficult to cast, so the company charges me quite a bit more to produce them. I therefore must receive at least 18 orders to place the order for this color - and I unfortunately must charge a bit more for this color. If you order a Bitterwseet Chocolate doll and the order is not placed, you will be offered either a full refund or the opportunity to order one of the other colors (plus a refund of the difference in price).
Both girls are available in all three colors.
I have had a hard time accurately capturing the colors of these resins, but I feel the picture above the probably the most accurate in terms of color. The Bittersweet Chocolate Moonling is not quite so dark in person, but it's the right general color. I would compare the resins to the following (though your monitor may vary from mine!):
I am not casting these dolls in-house and therefore have only limited control over their delivery date. I am estimating that the dolls will be delivered by early January.
If you choose to have your doll painted, there may be an additional week or two added to your wait time.Order period:
The dolls will be available to pre-order between October 1st and 31st. Full payment is required prior to 10/31 unless prior arrangements have been made.
